Our Ingredients Library.

We believe skincare should be simple, honest, and easy to understand. That’s why every Ain’t No Udder product is made with a handful of ingredients you can actually recognise — no fillers, no hidden synthetics, and no long chemical lists. This Ingredient Library is here to show you exactly what goes into our products, why we use it, and how it benefits your skin.

Animal Based

Cow

Tallow

Tallow is rendered from suet, the clean fat that surrounds the kidneys and loins of grass-fed cattle. Rich in vitamins A, D, E and K, and full of skin-loving fatty acids, it’s deeply nourishing and closely mirrors our skin’s natural oils. This makes it incredibly effective at repairing the skin barrier, locking in hydration, and soothing dryness or irritation. Read more about tallow here!

Bee on Flower

Beeswax

Beeswax creates a breathable protective layer on the skin, helping to lock in moisture without clogging pores. It’s naturally soothing, softening, and adds structure to our balms and creams.

Plant Oils & Infusions

Olive Branch and Olive Oil

Squalane (Olive-derived)

A lightweight oil derived from olives that hydrates the skin without feeling greasy. It improves elasticity, balances oil production, and helps keep skin soft and supple.

Jojoba Oil

Pressed from the seeds of the jojoba shrub (Simmondsia chinensis), native to the deserts of Arizona, California, and Mexico. Technically a liquid wax, it closely mimics our skin’s own sebum, making it deeply balancing and easily absorbed. Used for centuries by Indigenous communities to soften and protect skin, jojoba remains a gentle, soothing staple for calming irritation and supporting all skin types.

Vanilla Bean (Infusion)

We infuse whole vanilla beans directly into tallow, giving our creams a subtle, comforting aroma. Vanilla is naturally rich in antioxidants, which help protect and soothe the skin.

Minerals

Non-Nano Zinc Oxide

A natural mineral sun repellent and reflectent that sits on the surface of the skin to block harmful UV rays. Because the particles are “non-nano” (too large to penetrate the skin), it’s one of the safest sun-protection ingredients available, offering broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays. It’s also naturally soothing and anti-inflammatory.

Soap and Lather

Lye (Sodium Hydroxide)

Lye, also known as sodium hydroxide, is an essential ingredient in traditional soap-making. On its own, it’s a strong alkaline mineral, but when carefully combined with fats (like tallow and coconut oil), it triggers a natural chemical reaction called saponification.

Through this process, the lye is completely transformed — it binds with the oils to create soap and glycerin. By the time the soap is fully cured, no lye remains in the finished bar. What’s left is a gentle, nourishing soap that cleanses without stripping the skin.

Lye is what makes real soap, soap!

Every ingredient in our skincare has a purpose. Nothing extra, nothing unnecessary. Just clean, effective, skin-loving formulas — straight from nature, the way it should be.

INCI Names

You’ll notice that alongside our everyday ingredient names, we also include their official INCI names (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients). This is a legal requirement for all cosmetic products sold in the UK and EU.

It means every ingredient is listed in a standardised way, recognised worldwide — so no matter where you are, you know exactly what’s in your product. INCI names also make it easier to identify potential allergens and ensure complete transparency.

So while Citrus Sinensis Peel Oil Expressed might sound complicated, it’s simply the INCI name for sweet orange essential oil. We’ll always include both, so you can read our labels with confidence.
